We just spent the weekend in Seattle and wow what eyepopping real estate prices. We took our kids to the Pacific Science Center which had a great Dinosaur exhibit. We thought, what a great place to live but after looking at the Real Estate prices and after picking outselves off the floor we have thought otherwise. The average price now in King County is $450,000. Let me tell you, there is some real junk that sells for that with all kinds of mold on the roof, poor wood etc. I guess that is the price when you need a city will the places for kids…

I wanted to share with all my educators that trying to find great books for kids is still challenge even with the advent of Amazon. You can get a variety of views like mine, however there are so many choices and it becomes dizzying and suspect.

We are half was through Seven American Stories and the boys are loving it. I doubt many girls would like it by the way. What I found was adventure, history and intrigue. My boys have put themsleves in the place of 1810-1840’s pioneers, farmers, kids and husbands. They are well written by keeping my kids at the edge of their seat such as what will happen with the Native American visitor at the farm while a battle rises in the other direction? The pictures are very nice and describe well what is happening. Finally, the morals behind the stories are up to date with our times as well.

Have fun!!

If there is one thing that keeps this country going it contstruction. Just think of all the roads, buildings, residential lots and bridges etc. In order to keep this trade alive, companies will always need a steady stream of men and women who can operate heavy equipment like bulldozers, excavators, backhoes and front end loaders. The equipment looks daunting to me and how on earth would one learn and be trained how to operate such equipment? That is where Heavy Equipment Operator Training“>Heavy Equipment Operator Schools comes in. They operate 8 schools across the country with two more on the way. This ATS (Associated Training Schools) is accrediated and students will be certified via the NCCR (The National Center for Construction Education and Research).

If you are prospecting, go to their website via the link above and watch a video on what you will learn. Find out how to become certified as a Heavy Equipment Operator Level I, II, III and how to combine a CDL. Heavy Equipment Operator Schools also offer financing for its students. One unique feature you do see much of is the opportunity to Chat with an Operator. Click there and learn how this trade can work for you. Why not request a free brochure while you are at it.

If Heavy Equipment looks like your trade, you must look at this site.

Companies in the healthcare industry are looking to diversify and retain top talent in this highly competitive marketplace. Those that are able to synchronize business mission statements with the talent of their people are bound to succeed. As companies look to fill their pipelines, it is critical that they hire the right people. In the late 1990’s and early 2000s their was this race to see who could hire the most, and not necessarily the best talent. Now we see that trend reversing, as the pool of talent has become more competitive.

With that the need to diversify not only the talent that is being hired but the customers and assoications that we engage in the healthcare industry. The Hispanic population is one of the largest growing segments in the market and have a tremendous unmet medical need. First, what is diversity? Diversity means the ways in which we are all different, not just age or skin color. It is not just a gender or race issues. It applies to different areas such as culture, language, age, etc. A series of articles have been published to touch on the growing need to diversify in the healthcare industry at Phillips DiPisa Thought Leadership Library At Phillip S DiPisa, a specialty recruiting firm, you will find some great articles on other topics that pertain to the Healthcare industry and suggestions on what trends are affecting the talent of top leaders.

This is a His and Hers blog, so be prepared to read a wide range of rambles…

First from Her…

As a homeschool mom Spring brings on a whole new set of challenges, how to stay motivated?! And I am not referring to the kiddos! The workbooks are only half used, but how can we keep going when the sunshine is so nice? The best solution: shake things up a bit…her are 10 quick shakers:

1. Add Monday-Fundays (most Fridays are fundays for a lot of homeschoolers, switch this to Mondays)

2. Set up an obstacle course to get energized

3. Start a new family chapter book, let go of the one you have been trying to finish and has been dragging on

4. Start watching your way through an old TV family series, we are just about ready to wrap up the first year of Little House on the Praire

5. Start schooling outside

6. Take on a unit study

7. Start planning a vacation together as a family, could be a weekend road trip for the Summer

8. Concentrate on an area of study, such as Journaling

9. Switch up your family schedule

10. Plan weekly field trips for the rest of the year

But most of all hug your little ones everyday and enjoy each other
